Moonlighter features a boss in the end of every dungeon. These bosses are considerably more difficult than regular Enemies. Each boss can only be beaten once in any single play through. Should you return to the boss room after you have defeated them, the room will instead be filled with enemies like a regular room with three chests sinking into slime, each at a different rate.
Upon the demise of all the enemies in such a repopulated boss room, the chests that haven't finished sinking unlock and become available for looting. A teleportation arch also appears (as it does after killing a boss); returning to the town via that portal leaves a teleportation portal open in the town through which you can return to the boss room to finished looting the chests. (Still to check: does it always appear, or only if you got more than one chest? Does returning to the boss room cause time to pass in the same way as going into a dungeon normally, taking you to the next morning or the next night? Does the return portal show up in town after a boss fight, or only after returning to a previously cleared boss room?)
