Added with the Friends and Foes Update, familiars are small versions of enemies that follow the player like a pet and assist them in various ways. Familiars are stored in the special Farm found east of The Moonlighter, and are infinitely reusable. Interacting with the sign in front of the farm allows the player to view and equip familiars.
There are a total of 15 familiars players can acquire.
Getting a Familiar[]
Familiars hatch from eggs that drop after killing certain enemy types a set number of times. Note that the egg does take up an inventory slot, but will automatically be stored in the farm after exiting the Dungeon. Eggs take 3 full days to hatch.
Familiar Types[]
- Melee
- These familiars lunge at enemies, dealing 20% of the damage dealt by your equipped weapon.
- Ranged
- These familiars fire projectiles at enemies, dealing 20% of the damage dealt by your equipped weapon.
- Support
- These familiars offer powerful supportive abilities such as healing the player or spawning potions.
- Storage
- These familiars are able to pick up and hold items.

- Enemies damaged by familiars will briefly become impervious to damage.
- Choosing a familiar with a different attack rate or type might be necessary to avoid having your combos interrupted.
